Iditarod Insider, a recently developed web resource for the avid Iditarod fan, has not only been a hit worldwide: Volunteers along the Iditarod Trail itself can often be found surrounding computers at checkpoints, catching a glimpse of the race as it rapidly approaches. With dozens of exclusive videos already produced, and more being uploaded daily, even those who have traveled the trail for years gain a new perspective on the race from Iditarod Insider content. A person cant be at the Cripple, watching a musher claim the GCI Dorothy G. Page halfway award, while simultaneously hearing first hand about the windstorms engulfing the back of the pack. Iditarod Insiders production crews bring multiple perspectives from multiple locations together at one place, providing a holistic view of the Iditarod available no where else.
When the finish rolls around next week, Iditarod Insider will surely gain some additional fans out on the trail. Volunteers at checkpoints near Nome cant attend the finish because they are busy helping back of the pack teams through checkpoints, especially when the winner crosses under the burled arch in Nome. While not ideal, this has been the price of volunteering to assist at a checkpoint. Yet this year, these volunteers can witness the finish as it happens, live from nome. Vets, Checkers, Judges, Pilots and others will be found surrounding laptops at these remote checkpoints, streaming the finish as it happens. And anyone who misses the action can easily call it up on their computer when they get home: A pass to Iditarod Insider is good for one whole year, helping to add a little chill to the hot summer months.
Iditarod Insider hasnt only brought the Last Great Race on Earth into homes around the world, but it has also given those closest to the race new perspectives on the event they love to follow first hand each year.
