A three year old female named Kate, in the team of Ramy Brooks, died this morning on the trail between White Mountain and Safety.
A necropsy will now be conducted by a board certified pathologist to make everyattempt to determine the cause of death.
For the time being I have not assigned an official finishing time for Ramy. As per our standard procedure, we will evaluate the results of the necropsy and have up to eight hours to complete this initial process. Had this occurred at a checkpoint on the trail Ramy may have been required to have stayed in that checkpoint for up to eight hours.
Obviously we will work to complete the gross necropsy and my evaluations as quickly yet thoroughly as possible.
