NOME, ALASKA - (March 12, 2008)
Four Time Iditarod Champion, Jeff King, (Bib # 11) arrived in Nome Alaska at 04:05 am (Alaska Time) with a crowd of Iditarod 2008 race fans cheering him on. The Denali Alaska musher made the trek from Willow to Nome in nine days, thirteen hours, five minutes and fifty one seconds. King trailed 1st place finisher Lance Mackey all along the Gold Coast looking poised to pass Mackey on a number of occasions. A daring move by Mackey in the middle of the night in Elim gave him a lead that King was not able to overcome. King's efforts netted him $64,300 in earnings. His team finished strong with fourteen dogs completing the final trek from White Mountain to Nome.
