Biography

Devan Currier was born in Vermont on 9-5-60 where he was raised on a Morgan Horse farm. He graduated from Vermont Technical College and the University of New Hampshire with a degree in civil engineering and is now employed with Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, Department of Health & Engineering. He is the Regional Engineer for the Interior Region and manager of the Fairbanks office. While working in New Hampshire in 1987, Devan met his wife Judy and in 1993 they began mushing dogs. In 1995, with a truck full of Siberian Huskies, they moved to Wasilla, Alaska in search of more winter and better trails. In 2002 they relocated to Two Rivers, Alaska where they now operate Paw Print Bed & Sled and raise and train Alaskan and Siberian Huskies. Devan says after he ran his first 200 mile race, he became interested in running the Iditarod. Devon started the Iditarod in 2001 but was not able to finish, he returned to finish 50th in 2002. In his spare time he enjoys home building, woodworking, fishing and driving dogs.
