Kevin Morlock, 37 was born and raised in Colona, Michigan, where he became a fly fishing guide. Kevin says, “Being a fishing guide with winters off and a love for outdoor winter sports, my wife and I eventually got into dog sledding…it has become an obsession. Dog sledding seems to be the perfect combination of many of the things that we love to do. We have been lucky to have the opportunity to spend time with many experienced mushers and have advanced quickly in the sport. I am extremely fortunate that Al Hardman has allowed my family and me to move to his training center in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Al also is going to be coaching me through all the pre-Iditarod training and preparations. With Al’s four personal Iditarod finished and three other finishes from his kennel, it gives me a good deal of confidence going into the race. I am going to be racing a combination of dogs that we raised from puppies and some of Al’s Iditarod veterans. I can’t wait to see some of my pups cross under the burled arch in Nome.” Kevin is married to Joan and they are the parents of Aaliyah, 2. His hobbies include, hunting, fishing and reading.
