Iditarod Musher Profile

Wade Marrs, 18, was born in Alaska and has lived in Knik, Alaska his entire life. He began mushing nine years ago and ran the Jr. Iditarod in 2007 and 2008, as well as other local races. He received the Humanitarian Award in the 2008 Jr. Iditarod. Wade says, "I got most of my dog team from the Redington family and learned most of what I know form them. I grew up in Knik and ran dogs when I was a little kid and since I can remember. I live with my mom and my brother. We have always had dogs so I finally got myself involved and now my dream is to make it to Nome. I work for Raymie Redington at the Iditarod Headquarters doing sled dog tours and for Iditarod musher Mike Jayne commercial fishing in Bristol Bay. I hope to learn lots from these two people and their families. Wade says his hobbies are fishing, hunting, trapping and snow machining.
