Iditarod Musher Profile

David DeCaro, 26, was born and raised in Missouri. He moved to Alaska five years ago to live in the mountains. For the last three years, he has been a dog handler and tour guide. He began mushing four years ago and was the 2008 Rookie of the Year in the Kusko 300. In 2009, he received the Humanitarian Award in the Kusko 300. He has run numerous other mid distance races since he started racing in 2008. A member of Mush with P.R.I.D.E., David says he enjoys mandolin, disc golf and cooking.
