Iditarod Musher Profile

William Pinkham, 50, was born in the District of Columbia and grew up in New Jersey. He attended Catawba College in North Carolina where he received a degree in Political Science. He went to Colorado in 1980 after falling in love with the Rockies, skiing, hiking and biking. He began mushing in 1994, filling the void left after retiring from international rugby. He has been hooked ever since. William says, "The Iditarod is the ultimate journey. I am extremely fortunate to be able to spend time close to nature on the land with my dogs." William also enjoys biking, canyoneering, reading, Soo Bahk Do (Traditional Korean Martial Art) and surfing. Pinkham recently married Jodi, whom he proposed to at the 2008 Yukon Quest finish banquet.
