The BIG Race and the Little Race – Both are HUGE!

libby6Libby here!

The BIG race – Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race always starts on the first Saturday in March.  It ends when the last musher crosses the finish line in Nome.  Every year the race is exciting to follow.  Lots of mushers and doggies race from Anchorage to Nome!  This race is almost 1000 miles in distance!

It is not the only race I like to talk about, here’s another.  The Jr. Iditarod always starts on the last Saturday in February.  It is a two day race.  The racers finish on Sunday.  The Jr. race is for puppies..  oh wait!  I don’t mean puppies at all!  Silly me!  The Jr. race is for young people, ages 14 – 17.  You can read more about this race right here:  http://jriditarod.com

Like me, a little dog, the Jr. Iditarod is a little race.  It is for kids.  It is a two day race.  Racers go about 150 miles.

Both of these races are HUGE races and a big deal!  The races are fun to watch.  People living all around the world read about and follow the race.

Get out a globe.  Find where you live.  Find Alaska.  Are you close to or far away from the race?

Just spinning some ‘de-tales’.
