Developing Rigorous Science Math Core Curriculum for the 21st Century

Develops rigorous math/science/core content curriculum around student academic and cultural standards using the Iditarod Sled Dog Race as a context and theme. Prepares a curriculum plan for implementation in K-12 classrooms, employing local, state and national standards and 21st century teaching to frame curriculum that will be relevant to students and support classroom methods of instruction that reflect best practices in education and researched based teaching and learning.  Focus on authentic learning, hands on, real life/real time math and science, applicable to the lives and the future of students.  2 Credits

Curriculum Writing Connecting the Iditarod to Content and Cultural Standards Summer 2019

Develops curriculum around student academic and cultural standards using the Iditarod Sled Dog Race as a context and theme. Prepares a curriculum plan for implementation in K-12 classrooms, employing local, state and national standards to frame curriculum that will be relevant to students and support classroom methods of instruction that reflect best practices in education and researched based teaching and learning.  1 Credit

The Role of Experiential,Project Based, & Place Based Learning for 21st Century Skills

Develops rigorous experiential learning projects (place based, project based) using the Iditarod Sled Dog Race as a context and theme. Prepares a curriculum plan for implementation in K-12 classrooms, employing local, state and national standards to frame curriculum and is 21st century skills based with strong technology integration base, that will be relevant to students and support classroom methods of instruction that reflect best practices in education and researched based teaching and learning.  Focus on authentic learning, hands on, real life/real time, applicable to students lives and future. (21st Century skills based) On line sharing of projects with other teachers around the world.  2 Credits

Iditarod 2019 A Theme to Connect Teaching and Learning

Reviews the historical, social, philosophical, and physical foundations of the Iditarod. Develops curriculum around student academic and cultural standards using the Iditarod Sled Dog Race as a context. Prepares a curriculum plan for implementation in K-12 classrooms, employing local, state and national standards to frame curriculum that will be relevant to children in any state.  1 Credit
