Martin Buser Wins Millennium Alaskan Hotel First Musher to the Yukon Award

MARTIN BUSER FIRST TO ANVIK –

WINS MILLENNIUM ALASKAN HOTEL FIRST MUSHER TO THE YUKON AWARD

 

Anchorage, Alaska – Friday, March 8, 2013 – IDITAROD XLI Musher Martin Buser (Bib # 2) of Big Lake, Alaska, was the first to arrive at the Anvik Checkpoint at 02:17 Alaska Time with 14 dogs. 

 

The Millennium Alaskan Hotel First Musher to the Yukon Award is a five-course meal of Red King crab stuffed Portobello mushrooms and smoked sockeye salmon cucumbers with gourmet cheeses, Alaskan Clam Chowder, Roast duck salad with mixed greens, 14 oz. ribeye steak topped with a Cognac and Alaskan Amber sauce accompanied by jumbo prawns and bacon wrapped sea scallops served with grilled asparagus and four cheese risotto cakes prepared by the Millennium Alaskan Hotel’s Chef, Chef Bobby Sidro.  Dessert is an assorted fresh fruit tart.  Four wine pairings accompany each course.

 

Buser’s “After Dinner Mint” of $3,500 in one dollar bills presented on an Alaskan Gold Pan accompanied by a bottle of Dom Perignon was presented by Patrick Cashman, Millennium Alaskan Hotel Food and Beverage Director.

 

Buser declared his mandatory 8-hour layover in Anvik, so that he could enjoy this wonderful feast.

 

The Millennium Alaskan Hotel First Musher to the Yukon Award will be presented again to Martin in Nome on Sunday, March 17th during the Iditarod Awards Banquet at the Nome Recreation Center.
