2019 Iditarod XLVII Media Registration Form

Thank you for your interest in covering Iditarod XLVII as a member of the working media. “Working Media” is defined as full-time, paid employees or representatives/agents of professionally recognized media organizations including but not limited to: newspapers, magazines, major wire services, television stations, websites and other approved online mediums.

Please read the 2019 Iditarod Media Guide and the 2019 Media Credential Guidelines to be sure that you are eligible before applying.

To apply for credentials, the assigning editor/producer must fill out the following online application form.

Please do not submit multiple requests. If you are uncertain a request has been submitted please contact the media coordinator listed below. If you are a freelance journalist, you must be on assignment from a media outlet. A freelance journalist/photographer cannot request accreditation on behalf of another organization. Photographers must also be on assignment.

Specialty photography, portfolio photography, and personal website photography are NOT valid assignments. If you are not the assigning editor/producer, or are a freelance journalist or photographer, please forward this form to the appropriate person to be completed.

Requests for accreditation will only be considered if submitted via this official online process with the online application form completed accordingly. Application requests sent by email will not be accepted. Walk-in requests will also not be accepted.

ONLY working media on assignment will be considered for credentials.

The deadline for application is Feb. 15, 2019. You will be notified of acceptance/denial within 14 days of applying for credentials.

We appreciate you taking a couple minutes to answer the following questions. Your individual responses will be kept strictly confidential. Questions listed are to help understand the economic impact that the Iditarod, "The Last Great Race", is having on the State of Alaska.

  1. What is your total budget for covering the Iditarod? Please consider the following: transportation, car rental, equipment rental, hotel, meals, spending money, banquet tickets and any other relevant expenditures.
  2. While you are covering the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race are there any other stories or events you plan to cover? If so, what?
  3. Do you live in Alaska? If no, please answer question 4.

By submitting this online application I understand that I am ONLY applying for media credentials for the 2019 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race and that my application can be denied based on information or a lack of information provided

I also agree that by submitting this application, I have read and will abide by the rules and guidelines for media established by the Iditarod Trail Committee. I further understand that my failure to do so will result in the revocation of media credentials.

I understand that the Official Media partners (Iditarod Insider Productions, Denali Media (KTVA-TV) and Ohana Media Group) are solely allowed to broadcast live coverage from within the Iditarod Trail Committee-controlled media zones and staging areas at the ceremonial start, restart and finish of the race. Further, the use of boom cameras (including jibs) are prohibited within three blocks of the starting line of the Iditarod ceremonial start.

I also understand that if I am awarded media credentials, I will respect the specific rules and guidelines put forth by the Iditarod Trail Committee with regard to mandatory meeting requirements, as well as staying within my designated media zone areas at the ceremonial start, restart, finish and along the Iditarod trail.
