Flashback Photo – Erin Montgomery, 2015 Iditarod Teacher on the Trail

One of the most impressive traits I noticed among mushers was the love and kindness given to their dogs. The relationship between dogs and their mushers is unlike any other. In this series of photos with Dee Dee Jonrowe and her dog, you can feel the love and trust they have for each other. These types of photos were my favorite to capture. Dee Dee was having an authentic conversation with her dog after a long run. We can only assume she was thanking her dogs or telling them great job. I had the honor of witnessing many of these genuine relationships while on the trail. Each and every time I observed these moments, it solidified the fact that dogs are the number one priority in this last great race.
