Seventy-five miles after leaving Yentna Station, the Junior Iditarod mushers dropped down onto Willow Lake. Half a mile remained to the finish line on the far shore. Ion Earth GPS Tracker had shown the three leaders close to each other for a good portion of the return run. Spectators waiting at the finish line speculated who the winner would be but really, the race was too close to call. Most predicted a photo finish between Noah Pereira, Conway Seavey and Jenny Greger.

Out on the trail with only a handful of miles to cover, Noah pulled into the lead and Jenny fell back leaving Conway in the middle like the meat in a sandwich. That’s the way they finished. Noah as a rookie won the Junior Iditarod. Conway added a runner-up title to his previous 1st and 10th place finishes and Jenny improved her two previous 5th place finishes to 3rd.
