Hope everyone had a good nights rests. The teams are finishing up their 24 hour mandatory rest and are starting to move again. After today, the teams will start spreading out a little. The 24 hour rest due to the start differential, will help with the true position of the teams. Why do you think that is? Remember what I told you yesterday about the start differential. WHERE ARE THE MUSHERS: Lance, Sonny and Jeff are in Iditarod. Martin is between Ophir and Iditarod, Jake and the next 6 teams are in Ophir, 7 teams have left Takotna, 20 teams are resting in Takotna, 2 teams have left McGrath, 16 teams are resting in McGrath, 5 teams have left Nikolai and 1 team is in Nikolai.
RED LANTERN POSITION: Newton Marshall who is in Nikolai
WEATHER: There’s been some heavy snow out on the trail. There is still a high wind warning for all the checkpoints the mushers are at and between. It is currently around 15 degrees.
SCRATCHED: No one
AWARDS: Lance Mackey won the GEI Dorothy Page Award for being the first musher into Iditarod. .
