UPDATE March 13, 2013 Early Edition

Hi Boys and Girls

It has been a busy night between White Mountain and Nome.  4 teams have arrived in Nome and 12 more are between Safety and Nome.  Keep watching today because the race is not over yet.  That’s really important to remember, There is still around 50 teams that are out on the trail.  So stay tuned.

WHERE ARE THE MUSHERS: Ray Redington Jr, Nicolas Petit, Jake Berkowitz and Josr Leifseth-Ulsom have all left Safety.  Look for them to be in Nome shortly, The next 10 teams are all out of White Mountain and headed to Safety. The next 6 teams are in White Mountain. 2 teams have left Elim, 2 teams are in Elim, 8 teams have left Koyuk, 5 teams are in Koyuk, 3 teams have left Shaktoolik, 2 teams are in Shaktoolik, 3 teams is in Unalakleet, 3 teams have left Kaltag, 2 teams are in Kaltag, and 2 teams have left Eagle Island,

RED LANTERN POSITION: Bob Chlupack  who has left Eagle Island.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR POSITION: Joar Leifseth Ulsom who is currently in 8th place and is out of Safety.

WEATHER:   The weather in Eagle Island is 16 degrees and fair. The weather in Kaltag is -4 degrees and fair. The weather in Unalakleet is 1 degree and fair. The weather in Shaktoolik is 4 degrees and fair. The weather in Koyuk is 12 degrees and fair. The weather in Elim is 1 degree and mostly cloudy.  The weather in White Mountain is 10 degrees and cloudy and the weather in Nome is 0 degrees and cloudy.

SCRATCHED: Robert Bundtzen scratched in Shaktoolik because his team wasn’t performing up to his expectations.  Jan Steves scratched due to concern for her team.

Remember the race is not over until the Red Lantern is put out in Nome.  There is still a few days left of great racing.
