Bring out the harnesses and the dogs go crazy. It’s the same with sprint dogs or distance dogs – dogs get excited about running. Some look cool, calm and collected on the outside while others go to jumping, leaping, lunging and barking. Some hide their excitement while others couldn’t, even if they tried. This team dog out at the Aurora track was airborne long before the rest of the eight dogs were on the gangline. It takes little imagination to understand why the sled has to be anchored to something very sturdy until it’s really time to run. Amazing though, when the sled is released from the bumper of the dog truck, even the most excited dogs get right down to the business they love – pulling the sled.
