Elim morning scenes

Josh Cadzow is making up some places, so is Brent Sass who just stayed a few minutes here. That is where Quest experience somes in, where skipping checkpoints is not a big deal. They are running smaller teams with 9 and 10 dogs, another take over from the Quest, where only starting with 14 dogs, it is quite normal to have a smaller team at the end, yet still to race hard.

It was a beautiful ride over on the snowmachine. First we passed Ramey Smyth, still too dark to take pictures, than Michelle Philips next, just as the light was getting good enough. Approaching Moses Point, we saw Mike Williams Jr working away behind his team. Some beautiful silhouette shots against the morning sky.

Coming down the hill into Elim, which is a real pretty sight, I could see a team leaving and followed it down on the ice. It was last years Rookie of the year Brent Sass, who “ blew “ through  and after running in the 20th position, he now is getting close to regaining last years position currently running 14th

Back at the checkpoint it was a flurry of activity and Martin Buser, John Baker and Paul Gebhardt all left. The checkers were happy to have a bit more parking room available as space is tight here in Elim.

Internet is real slow, so I can not get more pictures to upload, sorry, but at least ” some went up “
