Lunchtime Rush Hour in Rainy Pass

Now the teams are arriving one after the other…. and this is just the beginning. It is heating up, yes… competition wise but mainly temperature wise. Well above freezing out. Perfect time to pull over and rest a team. When Allen Moore arrived and the checker asked him if he was staying: ” Yeah, why don’t we hang out for a while.” Allen has passed Aliy who is camped a few miles down the trail.

The team of Pete Kaiser look very animated. So far I like his team equally as well as that of Dallas Seavey. Pete’s team was just screaming to go.

Ralph Johnnessen seems to have a much better race than in 2014, to this point. His team looked cool, calm and collected, same as his owner. Hopefully he now has a much smoother ride down Dalzell Gorge, as that is where Ralph got pretty beaten up 2 years ago. He most likely has some butterflies in his stomach this time. He said pre-race, that he was doing anything possible to have that stretch in the daytime this year.

Cim Smyth did a little detour and came through the back door into the checkpoint. He had 2 dogs riding in the basket. They very much seemed to enjoy the ride, and each other’s company.

Jeff King has also just pulled in, I missed his arrival picturewise. Enjoy the shots
