Update von Don´s cabin

Jeff King has just passed through Don´s Cabin. It was a bumpy ride over. And it is well above freezing, luckily with a nice east ( tail ) wind blowing. Earlier on during the run to Ophir we passed Jodi Bailey, who had previously left Takotna, but returned to  drop a dog. She seemed a bit bummed out and most likely it would haave been wiser to carry the dogs the short 19 miles to Ophir. Specially not looking at her runtime of 6.56, which should have been 2.30 or even 3 hrs if travelling slow, going back to drop a dog, instead of slowing the team down and carrying it, was not a wise choice.   Of course Jeff wanted to know where his competition behind him is.  Well only passing Jodi, I did not have much new info….

In Ophir the teams of Jake Berkowitz Nicolas Petit and Jason Mackey were resting peacefully. Jim Lanier was out feeding his gang. Kevin Bodhi one of the Insider camera men was there. Today is his birthday. He has no communication, so here is a message to Melanie from Kevin!:“ I love you baby… Kevin „

Somebody fixed up Don´s Cabin, it has windows now and a real door. A tempting place to stop as mushers will come through all night. Getting internet is tricky. At the cabin itself is does not work but on a hill about 1 miles south I got he bgan to hook up. Well I have to admit the view alone is worth while driving up here…. Sorry for the super low resolution of the pictures, but heck, better than none!
