This is the lowest snow I have seen on the Kuskokwim River. Normally in low snow, there are not many moose. Not so this year. I finally even managed to get a shot of one.  

The river as such often only had a skiff of snow, if any for snow cover. Fast traveling conditions. The overland portages were slow going. Lots and lots of moguls. The first team I passed was Aliy Zirkle. Passing being technically the wrong term, as I pretty much left the checkpoint with her and than waited on the river to get a few shots in and see her team moving. As usual Aliy’s team is looking very nice. Next up was Pete Kaiser with a beautiful dog team. Here some pictures of both:
