Brent has once again come and gone. He is camping again, about 10 miles outside the checkpoint right now. A bit too far to go for a quick visit. He has that planned well, ensuring peace and quiet. I have to admit that I thought he would stop here this time, being in the middle of the night. It is amazing to see, that he has only stopped one single time in a checkpoint during the whole race, and that was his 24 hr layover, in the most quiet spot he could find: Ophir. He sure got his camping routine down.
Dallas Seavey checked in at 3.31 a.m. He is over 2 hrs behind Brent Sass, checking into here. Looking way back, Brent got that lead with a long run into his 24 hr layover into Ophir. At the same time Dallas stopped for 3 hrs in McGrath. That one rest, Brent has basically cut out. Brent then stopped in Ophir where Dallas camped out 10 miles past, before heading into Cripple for his 24. With Brent camping out for 4 hrs, it looks like he had a slightly faster runtime than Dallas Seavey coming fresh off his 24 hr layover.
Dallas declared his 8 hr layover here, but said right away, that he is not sure that he is going to take it. Here are some pictures, sorry for missing Brent shots.
