Brent Sass has arrived 1st into Unalakleet and is staying in the checkpoint. He arrived to a big crowd. HIs name will be added to the Wells Fargo 1st to Coast Awards trophy. He will receive $ 3500 in Gold Nuggets. This photographer had a blank morning moment. Only once snapping away, did I realize I had not card in the camera. Needless to say, I did not get much for shots.

His runtime of 15 hrs and 23 minutes, reflects about 11.5 hours real runtime, as he stayed for about 4 hrs at Tripod Flats cabin. Mitch Seavey has been camped out for about 1 hr now, where Dallas Seavey, Aliy Zirkle  and Wade Mars all seem to be coming straight here. That shows how predictable mushers are, as Wade told me in Kaltag, that he planned to stay for 2 hrs along the trail.  He must like what he sees in his team.

Brent said, he is going to stay for about 4 hrs. In case he would have done his ” usual move ” checkpoint Manager Middy Johnson, an Iditarod Musher himself, had already prepared him a bacon pancake to go.
