Musher Aliy Zirkle (Bib #14) was the first musher to arrive into McGrath at 20:32 with 16 dogs. Zirkle was awarded the prestigious PENAIR SPIRIT OF ALASKA AWARD by Danny Seybert, PenAir’s President & CEO .
This award is a beautiful “spirit mask” especially created for this event by Bristol Bay artist, Orville Lind. In addition, she will receive a $500 credit toward travel or freight shipment.
Zirkle didn’t waste anytime in the McGrath checkpoint. She and her 16 dogs left the McGrath checkpoint at 20:36 headed for Takotna.
