LANCE MACKEY FIRST TO IDITAROD– WINS GCI DOROTHY PAGE HALFWAY AWARD
Anchorage, Alaska – Wednesday, March 6, 2013 – IDITAROD XLI Musher Lance Mackey (Bib # 5) of Fairbanks, Alaska, was the first to arrive at the Iditarod Checkpoint at 20:36 Alaska Time with 13 dogs.
Mark Carlson, Network Services Project Manager for GCI was on hand at the Iditarod Checkpoint to present the GCI Dorothy Page Halfway Award to Mackey. He was awarded a trophy plus $3,000 in placer gold nuggets, courtesy of Iditarod Principal Partner GCI.
The GCI Dorothy Page Halfway Award will be presented again to Lance in Nome on Sunday, March 17th during the Iditarod Awards Banquet at the Nome Recreation Center.
