Iditarod announces race prize money by finishing posit

With the final finisher crossing under the burled arch in Nome and the winner of Trifecta selected, the Iditarod Trail Committee is able to announce the official breakdown of the race purse by finishing position. This breakdown is determined based on the number of total finishers, coming in at 34 for the 2020 race.

In 2020, the top 20 finishers will also receive a portion of the earnings from the Iditarod’s first game of chance and skill, Trifecta, where Iditarod fans guessed the Iditarod champion, their finish time and the number of dogs that crossed the finish line.

Below is a chart that details the prize money for places 1-­‐20, Trifecta winnings, as well as the customary $1,049 payment for places 21-34, totaling $501,120.
