Brent Sass into Cripple Checkpoint, GOING TRHOUGH

I caught up with Brent a few miles before the checkpoint. Backtracking on the trail is not much fun, with it being as bumpy as it is, but the last few miles coming into Cripple are some of the better ones with decent snow cover. It has been snowing lightly off and on since last night, not much for accumulation maybe a third of an inch. Brent’s team looked solid and in true Brent Sass fashion he did not sport a warm coat and was working away hard with a ski pole.

And in true Brent Sass fashion, he did not stay long. Packed up a few supplies, some straw and is on his way again. Happily camping out. NOTE: Ken had the fastest runtime here, by a long shot. 9 hrs 24 minutes. That is rolling. As comparison, Kelly Maixner hat 11.35 and 2 time Iditarod Champion Robert Sorlie ran 11.24. Both teams had not taken their 24 hr layover yet. A 2 hour faster runtime, is a big difference, at this point in the game, on 78 mile stretch of Trail.

Enjoy the shots
