Two Teams are on the way to ROHN. Yes ROHN. Never mind, one is almost there. Martin Buser. Matt Failor who just came of a Yukon Quest Finish, is running the second string for Happy Trails Kennel. And Matt, who nursed a small team of another kennel to a respectable Quest finish was all smiles this morning. All his movements were oozing efficiency and FUN. He commented: ” Driving a team like this you do not need 5 hr energy drinks to stay awake “. All of his dogs ate the snacks he offered, a big bag full. Than he also went to the water hole and gave the dogs some plain clear cold water. Some took it, some did not. And off he went, Rohn bound.
Next in was fan favourite Aliy Zirkle. She elected on a more conventional schedule and pulled over to camp. And being here at around 9 a.m. is a pretty respectable schedule. Her dogs were lunging and barking to go, wrapping the gangline around us camera people, as they headed straight for the food drop bags. She is taking care of her team as we speak.
Besides some local Rainy Pass Lodge guests, the first airplane have arrived and a few more visitors are in this beautiful spot. The sun is not out, but its not windy neither. Perfect dog running weather, a tad warm with about 28 F.
