Ketil Reitan, who started with number 6, has arrived at 21.06 with 16 dogs. 2 of those dogs were riding in his sled, and he had been rotating dogs on the run. He arrived to a cheering crowd, and believe it or not…. a band playing in a party tent nearby. The northern lights are indeed starting to come out.
Ketil proceeded to park his team, away from that tent, towards Skwentna lodge. He proceeded to give a brief physical exam to his dogs, specially each wrist from each dog. With 2 dogs he found some sorenesses and started to wrap those wrists in neoprene sweats. I was happy to see Stevie in lead. Ozzy was one of the dogs getting a ride in the basket. It took Ketil 7 hrs to get here from the starting line in Willow. He did not stop for more than a few minutes in Yentna.
It looks like Charley Benja could be the second team to arrive here soon.
