We left the hospitality of Koyukuk behind. It was great to spend some time there, as in previous years we had gone just by there. It used to be a checkpoint in years past. There were 4 teams still resting, some mushers feeding their gang. Pete Kaiser is a man of few words. Even he had the cold in his mind. “This cold has really hurt.” According to the weather forecast, it is slowly coming to an end; I’ll believe it when I see it,
