Mc Grath back of the pack

Anja Radano walking her dogs

I am once again on weather hold. Definitely missing the snowmachine. And looking at the forecast, I might be here for a while. The checkpoint is definitely thinning out and I had a chance to catch up with 4 time Champion Lance Mackey. He is running in the back of the pack. Unlike in the old days, he is very happy to be there. Racing for placing is not on the forefront anymore. His team was still 13 dogs strong and they were active. His scheduled leaving time was fast approaching, and in typical Mackey fashion his dogs were looking for food. Lance was ever jovial. While Cindy Abbot was looking for change to take a shower and put her cloths into the dryer.

It was nice to see Anja Radano all smiles in Mc Grath. She got pretty dinged up in Dalzell Gorge, while falling into the creek. Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional. Walking dogs in a 24 hr layover is a good way to limber them up.It is time to check on flights…..
