One of the fun part is always listening to the mushers talk in the checkpoint. Its cosy here in the Cripple Cookshack. Then shack might not be the right word anymore, it actually is a very nice cabin by now, one could live her. Its just a little bit hard to get groceries. How does Bacon and Pancakes sound for breakfast…. good to me.
John Baker was chatting away with the Norwegian contingent of Ralph Johannessen and Robert Sorlie. They were also wondering what had happened to Lance Mackey and everybody’s sentiment was, that his team had looked good and everything seemed in order.
And we even have a drive though window here in Cripple. Now how cool is that. Bob James fem GCI caught me… GCI is the sponsor of the Dorothy Paige Halfway Award of the 1st musher to Cripple. Dallas pocketed some gold yesterday!
Noah and Kelly are looking at stat sheets and studying other mushers runtimes. They sure picked a good spot with Cripple this year. It can be 40 below here, seen that a few times. Not this now, dipped to 5 below last night and is already getting much warmer. Their teams are resting nicely sheltered in the trees.
