We made it to Rainy Pass. Josh was already heading to the check in tent with the camera. On this last run, we are not much faster than a dog team. The trail is very nicely packed, well groomed, but its a lot of windy and twisty stuff. Luckily we caught up to Martin right on a little swamp before the steps. The steps were mellow, but I am sure that will change, at some point, with it being ” troughed out ” a bit more with each passing team. For now, there is not much else new here, so I am going to grab a bit of sleep. The plan is to stay here in Rainy till about Noonish, than keep on continuing to Rohn, ahead of the teams…. but at this pace, that might not be ahead of ALL teams.
I am really wondering what Martin´s Plan is? If he stays here, that would get him into the heat of the day leaving. So it would make sense to continue to Rohn, but really? Run nonstop from the start line to Rohn? That would be an ” interesting move “. Rumours have it, that he might 24 there. But that would not make sense neither, as than he would leave in the heat of the day again. What would make the most sense, if he now runs to Rohn, than stays until it cools down and than continues early evening. But than again, with a running schedule like this, conventional thinking might be out of the window. It sure make the race exiting right of the get go! Thanks for the excitement Martin. Looking at the first runtimes to Finger Lake, Martin does no longer have the fastest team. Lance in in 2nd position and did the run over from Skwentna 5 minutes faster.
