We left the hospitality of Bible Camp behind. Mushers were getting ready to go too and we quickly caught up with Peter Kaiser who was being trailed by Hugh Neff. Trail conditions were a bit better than going into Bible Camp, and the further to Ruby we got, the better they became. I assume mostly due to more traffic, but also less snow. Only the last 10 miles into Ruby were getting pretty wind blown.
Jessie Royer was on the move too, after her campout before Bible Camp. Her team looked solid.
Aliy Zirkle was following Martin Buser within sight. Both were in a good mood and I gave both the Go Pro camera to take some trail shots. It was mounted on a trail marker. Martin stuck it back in the snow again. When I went to pick it up it had a note on” Dead Batteries “. Urgh those darn Go Pro batteries. Gave it another try with another set of batteries and it worked. Footage should be up in the Insider in a bit.
Next up we passed Aaron Burmeister with a nicely moving team. He pretty much had left with the other 2, but had about a 10 minute gap between them. Aaron stopped for a brief chat while his dogs made some yellow snow.
The final two mushers are Seavey and Seavey. The elder leading the younger. Or the younger drafting off the elder. In any case, they are in a race. 2 races. The Iditarod and each vying for their 3rd championship. Each wanting to show the other who the master is.
Enjoy the shots. My favourite is Barnum watching over his master Jeff. Graceful dog.
