Evening action at White Mountain. Mitch Seavey and Aaron Burmeister have left the checkpoint. I did get the pleasure to drive Aaron’s dogs for a few yards, when he led them to the starting line.
Countdown and off he went into the darkness. It is supposed to be a super good night for northern lights. Unfortunately, we “get skunked ” up here; it is cloudy now.
Jeff King was feeding his dogs. I asked him what keeps him coming back every year. “It keeps me out of jail,” was his answer. He was already thinking Kobuk 440. Dang, he is truly addicted.
Jessie Royer woke up from her beauty sleep, while Joar was about to catch a few Zs. I am getting the hint that they are tired of my camera in their faces. One more day I try to console them.
We stay for the night here and head out first thing in the morning. Had hoped to sleep in the gym, but the kids have playtime in the gym tonight till MIDNIGHT. Crazy. Will find a bench to sleep under.
Enjoy the evening shots!
