Well, after a comatose sleep I am up and about again. The only company I had in the mushers sleeping quarters, which by the way are most excellent here, was Martin Buser. He indeed did run all the way and actually got here much quicker than I had thought. Joe Runyan is doing a great interview with Nick Petit, watch out for that one. Nikolai is really geared into the needs of the mushers. When Nick just ordered his food, they had it ready waiting for him. And those little things are noted, as he said, ” Nce, I do not even have to wait .” Any minute counts.
After surveying the damage to my machine, which is mostly cosmetic (it had 100 miles on it when I left, now it looks like it has 10,000) I am going down to the dog lot. Checker Rhody greeted me and said, “Sebastian, you need to go down to the dog lot and check out the new wounded warriors (mushers).” So I will…back in a bit…
Here are a few more shots from yesterday’s snowless trip. That is where the majority of the mushers are battling right now.
