Matanuska Valley Federal Credit Union Joins Iditarod Sponsorship Family

The Iditarod announced today that the Matanuska Valley Federal Credit Union will be joining the Sponsorship Family as a Wheel Dog sponsor. The Matanuska Valley Federal Credit Union (MVFCU) has been serving the Valley since its first location opened in 1948.  MVFCU believes that their members are a family and that “together we can do better,” which reflects the exact sentiments of the large Iditarod family.

“We at MVFCU are super excited about partnering with this uniquely Alaskan tradition called the Iditarod! Over the years, many Alaskans far and wide have closely followed the Iditarod Race with its many twists and turns along the way. This year, we at MVFCU proudly put our name behind this tradition and look forward to that special day in Nome when the 2024 Iditarod Winner will be crowned!” says Ed Gravley, MVFCU CEO.

“MVFCU and the Iditarod have similar origin stories; Matanuska Valley Federal Credit Union started over 75 years ago by a community of local farmers from the Mat Su Valley and the Iditarod was started over 50 years ago to honor and preserve a history, tradition and community.  With that being said, we have rich and shared community values and fully welcome MVFCU as a partner,” says Iditarod CEO, Rob Urbach.

The Iditarod is excited and grateful to have this new partnership formed with such a long-standing staple in the Matanuska Valley. This partnership is announced right before the Ceremonial Start of the Iditarod, which will take place at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 2 in downtown Anchorage and the official Restart will take place at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 3 at the Willow Community Center in Willow.  Fans are encouraged to come and support the teams on their journey to Nome.
