Steve Rasmussen, 40, was born in Nebraska. He graduated from Moorhead State University in Minnesota in ’89 with a degree in Construction Management and has worked as a Market Sector Manager for the last 15 years. He’s been running dogs about 10 years. His family is currently partners with Iditarod veteran Paul Ellering in Der Hund Kennel. They have about 60 dogs with bloodlines from Swenson, Swingley, Streper, and Sanderson. He says he “caught the sickness” when he helped Paul Ellering in the 2000 Iditarod and now he “just has to do it.” He is married to Sandy and they have three children, Samantha, 10, Sydney, 8 and Stefanie, 5. Steve is a member of Mush with P.R.I.D.E., the Iditarod Trail Committee and the Beargrease Race Committee. He says in his free time he enjoys hunting.
