Biography
John Hessert, 21, was born in Maine. He lived there most of his life but moved to Colorado briefly before coming to Alaska two years ago. He came here to learn more about training dogs and says his interest in the Iditarod started when he was eight years old and watched the ’91 race video with his father. He says he is running the race this year to “learn more about dogs and become a better dog musher.” He is training with Martin Buser.
