Andrew Letzring, 21, was born and raised in Minnesota. He says that for as long as he can remember, his parents had dogs, so he had dogs. He trained dogs with his parents until he went off to college when he was 18. But he dropped out and began worked for Ed and Tasha Stielstra at Natures Kennel. He’s the kennel manager there and leads guided tours with dog teams for their business. He came for the start of the 2004 race and handled for Stielstra and thought it looked like a challenge. During the summer he came back to Alaska and worked for the Seavey’s IdidaRide Sled Dog Tours. He is looking forward to running a yearling team in this year’s Iditarod. Andrew says he enjoys hunting, fishing, and actually anything outdoors.
