Biography

Matt Hall, 34 (Veteran) was born in Alaska and makes his home in Two Rivers with his wife Elke. Together, they own and operate Silver Ace Sled Dog Kennel, which has 50 dogs. Except for 2020, Matt has run the Iditarod every year since 2018, for a total of eight times. In the last two years, Matt earned a 2nd place finish. Matt and the Silver Aces are regular competitors in the Yukon Quest 1000, Quest 350, Copper basin 300, and many other mid- and long-distance races. Matt grew up in remote Alaska, running dogs on his family’s trapline. He credits his parents, Wayne and Scarlett Hall, for teaching him everything about training sled dogs. One word describes the thrill of the Iditarod for Matt: “The competition!” Matt loves to be on the water when not with his sled dog team. He works as a tour guide during the summer months.
