Biography
Travis Beals, 34, (Veteran) has been mushing dogs his whole life. He and his wife Sarah own and operate Turning Heads Kennel based in Seward, Alaska. Travis was hooked on mushing from infancy by helping his mother train her sprint team, and spent a lot of time with the dogs, including many nights out in the yard. Travis’s race history includes multiple Iditarod finishes, Jr. Iditarod, Tustamena 200, Copper Basin 300, Knik 200, Willow 300 and many others. Travis credits Rick Tarpey for mentoring him until he was old enough to start his own kennel. As Travis’ race experience grew, he set his sights on his longest race yet. An iconic Iditarod memory from Travis’ Rookie year when he proposed to his wife under the burled arch. When not racing, Travis offers summer and winter tours at his kennel.
