Biography
Thomas Wærner, 52, (Veteran) was born in the UK and now makes his home in Torpa, Norway. He owns Berserk Kennel, home to around 30 dogs. He runs dogs for Torpa Idrettslag and works for the company EveryCare AS. Thomas’s races include the Finnmarksløpet FL1000, which he won in 2013, and Iditarod champion in 2020, earning champion status as well as Rookie of the Year. He was ranked as Norway’s best dog driver in 2013. Thomas has a total of 6 international medals. He says, “I was 11 years old when I started with mushing and I always had this interest in dogs. You know, since I was really small. I’ve been petting dogs. I’ve been touching dogs. I wanted to see them. So and then I started with the dog mushing, because I just wanted to do more things and then have more time with dogs.” When not racing, Thomas spends time with his family.
