As part of this ongoing commitment, Pike Dog Wellness began supporting one of the Iditarod’s most meaningful honors in 2023—the Leonhard Seppala Humanitarian Award. Established in 1982, this award is presented annually to the musher who demonstrates outstanding dog care while remaining competitive throughout the race. The recipient is selected by the Iditarod veterinary team and is awarded an engraved lead crystal trophy along with a paid entry fee for the following year’s race.
David’s passion for canine health and his respect for the enduring spirit of The Last Great Race® are at the heart of the Pike Dog Wellness program—an integral part of our long-term focus on the wellbeing of our canine athletes.
