As of 2:30 p.m. today, 24 mushers have submitted their entries for the 2025 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, scheduled to start in Anchorage on Saturday, March 1, 2025 with the official Restart taking place the following day in Willow.
The Iditarod is kicking off its 53rd year with an incredibly strong group of mushers, including 2nd and 3rd place finishers of the 2024 race, Matt Hall and Jessie Holmes, 2023 Iditarod Champion, Ryan Redington, plus 2024 Rookie of the Year, Josi Thyr and many veterans including but not limited to, Anna Berington, Deke Naaktgeboren, Travis Beals, Michelle Phillips, Riley Dyche, Nic Petit and more. Today’s entrants include 11 rookies and 13 veterans, 15 men and nine women and 12 returning mushers from the 2024 Iditarod.

Mushers who were unable to be at Iditarod Headquarters in person today are still able to sign up to run the 2025 Iditarod via mail, email or in person. The last day to sign up for the 2025 race before the entry fee increases is December 2, 2024.
Two mushers at today’s picnic were the recipients of free entries into the 2025 Iditarod as the annual drawing took place: Nic Petit and Travis Beals.
The Iditarod also announced the opening of its summer raffle featuring a grand prize winner of $100,050, two awards of $10,000, and twenty-seven $1,000 winners. The raffle drawing will be held at the Alaska State Fair Iditarod booth on the green trail at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 2, 2024. Winners do not need to be present to win.
