And here he is. The Kusko Delta’s very own Pete Kaiser. Going strong in the Top 10. WIth so many teams out on the trail, some camping, some going, all kind of different schedules going on, Pete had lost track of what place he was travelling in. He asked Tim, “What place?” 9th it is. He left in 12th up in Huslia, picking off a few teams along the way.
In the meantime Jessie Royer has pulled out of Koyukuk, staying just long enough to rifle through her drop bags and make sure her return bag makes it home. Dog food is staying in the village and will be fed to local dogs. Items like dog coats, booties, and runner plastic a musher can bag up in a so called “return bag” which then gets sent back home. Opening the return bags, usually sometimes in April, is a pretty smelly undertaking and yields many surprises.
Dallas Seavey is en route again too, Kaltag bound, or beyond….
We are packing up too.
Happy trails.
