Lots of teams into Nulato

The dog yard is filling up and a few teams are also leaving. Nicolas Petit’s dogs wanted to first go inside the checkpoint, they climbed up the stairs and were waiting for someone to open the door.

Unfortunalely I was a bit too slow and did not catch good picture. He then lined his dogs out again and cruised down the trail. Out on the Yukon I caught up with Hugh Neff, he looked all frosted up and then Scott Smith was following him.He had a very nice smooth looking team.

Ray Redington is here too and busy massaging his dogs feet. Noah Burmeister just came by and said ” See you down the trail ” yes indeed, it is time to load up the iron dog and head to Kaltag too, Looking down the trail. Brent Sass is the lone wolf out there, having a whole bunch of teams chasing him. He should get to Tripod flats cabin, right in time before the heat of the day hits. That makes it a comfortable 50 ish mile run into Unalakleet from there. Mitch Seavey continues to post very fast runtimes, shaving half an hour of Brent’s time to Kaltag. He has been resting considerably more and will now have to take his 8 hr layover. That will have him leave at 15.41 which is pretty much perfect timing, as it will cool down. Most likely Brent will pull the hook about the same time at Tripod cabin. So very roughly , Brent has a 28 mile lead on Mitch at this point.
