Eye on the Trail: Rookie Review – Thomas Rosenbloom

Thomas Rosenbloom and a Happy Iditarider in Anchorage

Twenty-six year old Thomas Rosenbloom was born in Wichita, Kansas. While in his junior year of college at the University of Georgia – Athens he watched the Iditarod documentary “The Toughest Race on Earth.” From that time on Thomas knew Iditarod would be in his future. The question was how to make that happen.

After completing his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, he worked and traveled. Then he applied for a job with Iditarod veteran, Mike Santos. Santos and his wife, Caitlin own and operate Wolf Den Kennel in Cantwell, Alaska.

Rosenbloom says, “I have loved my two years here in Cantwell and am now more than ever determined to finish with a happy, healthy dog team.

When Rosenbloom rolled into Tanana late on Wednesday he was living his dream. He spoke with pride about his dog team and the run they’d had. While resting in Tanana, he had a premier parking spot over looking the Yukon River. While caring for his dogs, he could see miles up river and down river. Rather excellent scenery while massaging athlete’s shoulders and preparing gourmet athlete meals. He’s on his way to Ruby and should experienced some warmer nights and beautiful scenery.

Rosenbloom has a perpetual smile on his face. He’s in tune with his dogs. Safe to say that he and his fifteen athletes are having an exceptional run. In his spare time, Thomas enjoys playing music and traveling.
