A fun story from the trail from a volunteer at the Eagle Island checkpoint – Cooper, one of Sarah Stokey’s dogs, was returned in Eagle Island, and his flight getting back to her handlers was delayed. Last year after the race the volunteers in Eagle Island requested some dog blankets for return dogs, since they felt it would make the dog’s stay better. This year they got the blankets, and they helped keep Cooper warm and comfortable while he was waiting for his flight! He looks pretty cute in pink in my opinion. The blankets were a project by the ITC Education Department. School children created and designed blankets for the return dog program.
