The Iditarod is saddened to share the news of Nome Mayor Richard Beneville passing. Mayor Beneville embraced the Iditarod and supported the historical connection between Nome and the Iditarod sled dog race. He will truly be missed by the entire Iditarod Nation but his spirit will remain alive.
